Benjamin Netanyahu is Israel’s longest-serving prime minister. According to Gallup polls, Netanyahu’s personal approval rating in Israel reached a high of 52 per cent in 2017, and throughout the war has remained stable at 40 per cent. In November 2024 the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest for ‘the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare and of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts’.
