Stan Grant and Media Racism
Simon Kneebone
As part of its coverage of King Charles III’s coronation, the ABC invited veteran journalist and Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri man Stan Grant to speak about the impact of colonialism. After this broadcast, Grant received online abuse and had his words misrepresented in the media. Because of this, he later resigned from the ABC and took up an academic post that would allow him to contribute to improving news culture. ‘We can all learn how to do this better,’ he said.
