What's in the party bag?

Every day Australia's political cartoonists satisfy our sweet tooth by providing us with a lucky dip of hilarious takes on current affairs.

In 2023, social progress for women was in the mix, with cartoons about International Women's Day and the Women's World Cup. Cartoonists commented on the need for recognition and respect of First Nations peoples, especially in the wake of journalist Stan Grant's resignation from the ABC.

Cartoonists also know how to make light of themselves and their fellow artists, as was evident from their responses to the new Australian National Cultural Policy and the Hollywood writers' strike.
