The Coalition government was criticised in the media for a slow response to the flood crisis. Unlike in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, where two men wait for a mysterious third character who never appears, Scott Morrison did eventually make it to flood-affected Lismore. However, media reported that the prime minister’s office had requested they film neither his visit nor his interactions with locals.
