Make an obstacle course
Celebrate the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 31: Children’s Right to Play and Rest.
Activity time: 20 minutes
Play is important for children's development. Play helps children problem-solve, take risks, make friends and learn about the world around them. Did we mention that it is also just really fun to play?
Check out our video of an obstacle course we made with things around the house and then make your own at home or in the park. How fast can you complete your obstacle course?
You’ll need:
- laundry basket
- broom
- chair
- old newspapers or magazines
- anything you can jump over, on or run around.
Once you’ve created your masterpiece, do a final safety check and then it’s time to put it to the test. Time yourself running the course. How fast can you go?
Can’t get outside? Have a go at making an obstacle course indoors.
