The Anatomy Lesson

In the style of a Rembrandt painting, text reads, 'The last political anatomy lesson of Antony Green.' On a table, Antony Green dissects a man on the table in front of various politicians.

The grotesqueries and darkness found in David Rowe’s work bring to mind artists such as Francisco Goya and Hieronymus Bosch. However, in this work about the ‘autopsy’ being performed by ABC election analyst Antony Green on defeated Coalition leader Peter Dutton, as notable Liberal Party figures look on, Rowe conjures up The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp (1632) by the great Dutch artist Rembrandt.
