On the US president’s orders, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers conducted raids across America, including in Los Angeles across several days in June. The agency was enforcing immigration laws by seeking to detain and deport undocumented immigrants. Hundreds of citizens gathered on 7 June in the city’s downtown area to protest, a crowd that swelled to thousands over the next couple of days. Cartoonist Jess Kitty Parker was inspired by footage of the protest.
