Chris Downes
Tasmanians went to the polls in March and the result was a hung parliament. In the end, the incumbent Liberal government, which previously enjoyed majority government, negotiated with independents and the Jacqui Lambie Network to form a minority government. The cost (estimated to be $775 million) of a proposed 25,000-seat stadium in Hobart for the new Tasmanian AFL team proved to be a major election issue. Alluding to Shelley’s famous poem, Chris Downes cleverly combines the name of new Premier Jeremy Rockliff with that of Ozymandias (the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II).
