A friendly backyard barbie, complete with sizzling snags: what could be more Australian? So Australian, in fact, that getting a sausage at the local school on election day has become a tradition and earned its own moniker: the ‘democracy sausage’. Dean Alston suggests that relations between the Greens and Labor could be strained at the next election, especially if Adam Bandt continues to call for a freeze on all new coal, oil and gas projects and to accuse Labor of being ‘addicted’ to gas company donations.
