In June Chinese Premier Li Qiang made an official visit to Australia, the first by a Chinese premier in seven years. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described this as ‘another important step in stabilising Australia’s relationship with China’. Li declared that the relationship was now ‘back on the right track’ and promised a gift of two pandas to Adelaide Zoo.
