When the government announced its plan to reduce tax concessions for individual superannuation accounts over $3 million, the opposition sought to defend the interests of the 0.5 per cent of Australians who would be affected. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton queried the range of consequences of the proposed change and accused the government of breaking an earlier promise not to increase tax on superannuation.
