In response to a push from the Greens to include rent caps or freezes as part of the Housing Australia Future Fund Bill, the government proposed to limit rent increases to once a year and to ban ‘no fault’ evictions in all states and territories. After months of negotiations, the Bill finally passed on 14 September 2023.
