In Pat Hudson’s cartoon, Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek watches the unnerving news over her lunchbreak and then nonchalantly resumes approving mining applications. Plibersek has been criticised for approving some coal and gas projects since taking office, when the federal government has set a target of achieving net zero emissions in Australia by 2050.
