Shelves emptied in supermarkets across the country as isolation rules and high COVID-19 case numbers crippled supply chains. There were shortages of meat and fresh vegetables, as well as household necessities and rapid antigen tests (RAT). According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, almost half of all businesses were experiencing supply-chain disruptions as the Omicron wave peaked in January.
