Following the Taliban’s rapid takeover of Afghanistan, Australia scrambled to evacuate Afghan nationals who had supported their mission in the country. Here Mark Knight is making a reference to an incident in 2018 when Minister for Defence, Peter Dutton, in his former role as Minister for Home Affairs, intervened to prevent a French au pair being deported.
