Trade with China

Though both China and Australia apply import tariffs on each other’s goods, in 2021 both countries took complaints about high tariffs to the World Trade Organisation. Minister for Trade Dan Tehan was asked if there was an escalation in what some called a ‘tit-for-tat retaliation’. Andrew Weldon points out that a new kind of trade has overtaken all others in the market.
