The Oxford English Dictionary named ‘vax’ its word of the year, reflecting the dominance of COVID-19 vaccination as a conversation topic. The pandemic’s new lexicon also includes previously niche pharmaceutical brand names such as Moderna. Just as Australians got used to the new lingo, AstraZeneca was formally renamed ‘Vaxzevria’ in August.
