Endangered Species

Native animals are labelled as good moral attributes. Pests are labelled as undesirable traits. Text says native species/good traits are at danger of becoming extinct, whilst 'feral pests proliferate.'

‘As often happens when you follow the news, parallels emerge between disparate issues. In this case, there were stories of the terrible cost to wildlife of last summer’s bushfires, and the proliferation of pests, as well as evidence of the corrupt and unethical behaviour in business and politics which appears to have become the norm. Coincidence? In any case, it’s hard not to feel despair for what we’ve lost in both spheres.’

The Museum of Australian Democracy acknowledges Australia's First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We respectfully acknowledge the role that First Nations people continue to play in shaping Australia's democracy. We also acknowledge the Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the region in which MoAD is located.
