Bring history, media literacy and democracy into your classroom with our political cartooning exhibition. Students will participate in collaborative, hands-on activities to explore the role of political cartoons and the techniques used to convey meaning. They will develop their media literacy skills and explore how freedom of speech and freedom of expression are exercised within our democracy. This is a program delivered by MoAD in your classroom.
Students will:
- Explore the role of the media in our democracy
- Build media literacy skills by examining current political cartoons for techniques and meaning
- Construct a cartoon to consolidate their skills
- Consider issues they are passionate about and how they can create positive change.
We are also happy to adapt the content to include cartoons relevant to your students' current learning areas.
MoAD's annual political cartooning exhibition, Behind the Lines, tours to four locations across Australia each year.
