Students will learn how to plot a story in this interactive session. Charlotte will guide students through the process she uses to plan her stories, from generating story ideas and developing believable characters, to creating conflict, working with tension, and building satisfying resolutions. Bring along paper and pens and leave with all the skills you need to take your story writing to the next level!
About Charlotte Barkla
Charlotte Barkla is a Brisbane-based author, teacher, and international speaker. Her books include Let's Try Again Another Day, the 11 Ruby Road historical fiction series, All Bodies are Good Bodies, the Edie's Experiments series, Robo-Teacher, and From My Head to My Toes, I Say What Goes.
Charlotte's books have been translated in multiple languages and short-listed for awards, including the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards and the Wilderness Society's Environment Award for Children's Literature. In 2023, All Bodies are Good Bodies was adapted into a song by the children's band, The Quokkas.
As well as writing for children, Charlotte speaks at schools, libraries and festivals across Australia and worldwide, sharing her passion for creativity and stories with children of all ages.
